For this project, I came to the conclusion that I would use gems and diamonds as inspiration for this sculpture. I wanted to use all of the geometric shapes within the gem and play with light as well. Gems refract and reflect light so I wanted to make sure that the piece was well lit so that it would create interesting shadows. This also adds an additional layer of interest and depth. I cut hexagon, pentagon, rumbas/diamond, and triangle shapes which are found in gems and re arranged them in order to create a deconstructed gem.
