Victims of the Spill- Five Cube Sculpture

Spring 2018 / Shaping Space and Form

6” x 6” x 6”

Sculpture

Fish Scales, Bird Feathers, Oyster Shells, Turtle Shell, Grasses

The task was to create a sculpture with five 6” x 6” x 6” cubes. All the cubes had to be linked in some way but the concept of our piece was entirely up to us. These five cubes each represent a species that was a victim of the BP Oil Spill in April of 2010. The Atlantic Oyster, Long-Billed Curlew, Maidencane (grasses), Loggerhead Sea Turtle, and the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna. They are all displayed as they would be in a natural history museum in order to display these “victims” in this moment in time that was to harmful.
